The First Official Sports Betting Apps

Several states have recently gotten their first official sports betting apps up and running. However, these apps are not yet available online. Instead, bettors need to visit their local land-based casinos to sign up for an online sportsbook account. Those who want to bet online in these states must use PayPal or credit cards.

The DC Lottery is responsible for overseeing sports betting in the district. However, the DC Lottery does not have a sportsbook of its own, so other companies can offer their own apps. There are three sports betting apps available for DC residents, but they are not all the same. Some of the apps are quite popular, but others have been largely ignored. These apps are listed below.

Wyoming launched its online-only market in September of 2021. It took a little longer for Connecticut sports betting to launch. That was delayed by a law signed by Governor Ned Lamont in May of 2021. The law also prevented Connecticut Lottery from operating online casinos. The state is currently working with Rush Street Interactive to provide its online sportsbook.

Connecticut has been a gambling-hostile state in the past, but lawmakers chose to allow for online sports betting in the state. They also decided to allow four sportsbooks to provide their service to residents. It took them longer than most states because of tribal compacts. Nonetheless, the state is set to launch its online sportsbook in November of 2020.

Rhode Island was the first state to pass a sports betting law, but it took a few years before the state launched its sports betting app. The state’s sports betting app is called Sportsbook Rhode Island and is available to residents of the state. The app provides betting on major sporting events. The app is easy to navigate and it has an excellent star rating.
