Official Poker

The word “official poker” means that it is a game that is played in a card room rather than a casino. It does not imply that the rules in these card rooms are necessarily the same as those in a casino. The word “official” means that the rules and guidelines of the game are recognized by a governing body.

There is a poker rules book available online. It is free to download. It contains the rules of most major poker tournaments around the world. These rules have been developed by the professional Tournament Directors Association, or Poker TDA.
