The NFL is the last major American sports league to announce an official betting partnership. It announced that three sportsbooks will be the league’s official betting partners. By tying their brands to league statistics, these sportsbooks will be able to use official league data and promote their partnership with the league. The five-year deal will pay nearly $1 billion to the league if the two sides meet and stick with it. The league can opt out after the first three years, however.
The partnership will start in 2021 and include the Liberty, one of eight original WNBA teams. The Liberty plays at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and is owned by Joe Tsai, the majority owner of the Brooklyn Nets. The partnership with the Liberty is an extension of BetMGM’s partnership with the Knicks, Rangers, and Madison Square Garden. In March of 2021, BetMGM announced partnerships with six other NBA/NHL franchises.
