MLB Announces Official Betting Partnership With FanDuel

The Supreme Court overturned a federal ban on sports betting, and states have since taken up the mantle. Kansas has two regulatory bodies, the Kansas Lottery and the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission (KRGC), and you can find state-licensed sportsbooks at sites like FanDuel, DraftKings and BetMGM.

To play games, players must provide personal and contact details, agree to the terms and conditions and click “accept” before placing wagers. Most sites will ask for your date of birth, name, address, phone number and last four digits of your Social Security Number. You may also be asked to upload scanned documents for identity verification. Some sites require this for all wagers, while others only request it on certain types of bets.

MLB has a number of responsible gaming initiatives in place, including partnering with the American Gaming Association’s “Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly.” It is also committed to educating fans on the risks of gambling, and is a member of the National Council on Problem Gambling.

The MLB-FanDuel Sportsbook partnership includes the sportsbook itself, its fantasy product and FanDuel Faceoff, as well as other MLB content. The agreement also gives FanDuel exclusive rights to MLB branding and category destinations. Lastly, the two companies have agreed to work together on marketing and promotional activities. This is an expansion of a partnership that began in 2019.
