The authors’ detailed analyses of hundreds of IDN design and reflection sequences offer complementary strands of analysis: narrative elements, choice poetics, and Twine tree structures. The authors’ findings indicate that novice designers use these multiple dimensions of IDN design to create complex characters and socio-emotional dilemmas as pivots for narrative trajectories.
