DraftKings and the PGA TOUR Extend Partnership

The PGA TOUR and DraftKings have extended their multi-year partnership. In July 2019, DraftKings will become the first official betting operator and daily fantasy game of the PGA Tour. The agreement will include new content and marketing opportunities for the PGA Tour. Below is a look at the new partnership.

NFL partnered with sports betting operators in April. The agreement will allow betting content to seep into broadcasts and the stadium experience. The league expects to generate around $270 million from this partnership this year. But it’s unclear whether the NFL will make this a full-time, permanent partnership. But the league has clearly seen the potential.

Since the Supreme Court’s decision legalizing sports betting in many U.S. states, the number of people wagering on the sport has soared. The amount of money wagered on PGA Tour games through official betting sites rose 50 percent between 2020 and 2021. Further growth is inevitable. But the questions that remain are what kind of golf betting might emerge and what role will betting play in the Tour’s business?

Sports betting is an industry fueled by hundreds of billions of dollars and is expanding rapidly throughout the country. It has become legal in seven states, and is expected to be legal across more states later this year. Sports betting has become a huge, high-tech industry with a strong focus on professional athletics. Sportsbook operators are now even being located in places like Waffle House, which has become one of the fastest-growing restaurants in the United States.
